On the Island of Krk it is prepared from figs, Lozovača (grape rakia) and chopped walnuts. It is shaped into a roll and dried for about 20 days.
400 g (14 oz) dried figs
30 ml (1 fl oz) Lozovača (grape rakia)
60 g (2.1 oz) chopped walnuts
Remove stems from the figs and cut into quarters. Put into a blender, add rakia and blend thoroughly. Put mixture into a bowl and mix together with walnuts in order to obtain a smooth mixture.
Shape mixture with wet hand into one bigger or two smaller rolls.
Leave it on fig or laurel leaves to dry for 15-20 days. The process can be speeded up by drying them for an hour in the oven at 60°C (140°F).
Cut the fig cake into slices and serve with homemade rakia (rakija).
